Boonville  Missouri Valley Commission Company
Cattle Auction Report for 2/24/15

Receipts:  907    Week Ago:  N/A    Year Ago:  896

Compared to the last tested market two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers
sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower with the sharpest decline on cattle over 650 lbs.
Plenty of flesh on most of the offering this week, but the quality was good,
making up for some of the discount on flesh condition. A major price break was
obvious for both steers and heifers at 650 lbs, with interest for the heavier
feedlot bound cattle moderate at best. Slaughter cows traded fully 5.00 to 8.00
higher, spots 10.00 higher, as buyers tried to make up for the lack of
availability the past few weeks since inclement weather has hampered movement
throughout much of the Missouri. Supply and demand moderate. Cows and bulls
accounted for 25 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply consisted of
65 percent steers and 35 percent heifers; 75 percent of all the feeder cattle
weighed over 600 lbs.
