Cattle Auction Report for 2/16/15                
 
Receipts:  486    Week Ago:  723    Year Ago:  0   
 
   Compared to last week, feeders under 600 lbs sold mostly steady to
3.00 higher, over 600 lbs sold with a lower undertone. Supply light
to moderate. Demand moderate to good. Several bred cows in the
offering of all ages and stages. House full of buyers for the
special cow sale on Tuesday, even though it was rainy and cold. There
were several strings of good quality bred cows. Buyers were looking
for light weight calves in preparation of the spring grass that
will be popping up in the next couple of months. Live Cattle and
Feeder Cattle futures were showing strong gains, hopefully they
will not drop back off in the next couple of days. Feeder offering
consisted of 52.7 percent heifers, 47.3 percent steers and bulls, and
48 percent of the total feeder offering was over 600 lbs. Cows 49
percent of the total offering. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 lower.
