Cattle Auction Report for 04/19/16

   Very few comparisons available to last week but similar sales of steers and
heifers traded weak to 5.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher. Bulk of
the supply bred cows and cow/calf pairs. Most area farmers have parked the corn
planter and are watching the calendar waiting to plant beans. Several locals
reporting that corn should be popping up in rows by the weekend after a perfectly
timed rain yesterday. Supply and demand moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 65
percent of the total offering. The feeder supply consisted of 51 percent steers and
bulls and 49 percent heifers; 50 percent of all the feeder cattle weighed over 600
lbs. 
 
   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1  400-500 lbs 175.00-185.50; pkg 523 lbs
170.50; pkg 603 lbs 155.00.  Medium and Large 1-2  600-700 lbs 140.00-150.00;
pkg 740 lbs 143.75; 800-900 lbs 127.00-132.50. 
 
   Feeder Heifers:  Medium and Large 1  400-500 lbs 163.00-165.00; 500-600 lbs
144.50-145.50; few pkgs replacements 692-752 lbs 140.00-141.50.  Medium and
Large 1-2  pkg 544 lbs 134.50.  Large 1-2  pkg 667 lbs 125.00. 
 
   Feeder Bulls:  Medium and Large 1-2  500-600 lbs 150.00-155.00; pkg 643 lbs
142.50.

980.00-1070.00 per head.  Large 1-2  several pkgs 7 yrs to broken mouth 1225-1365
lbs 2nd and 3rd stage 1000.00-1270.00 per head. 
 
   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1  several pkgs outstanding 2 and 3 yr old 1st
calf heifers 1100-1225 lbs with 100-150 lb calves 2675.00-2775.00 per pair.  Medium
and Large 1-2  2-5 yrs 1000-1200 lbs with 75-200 lb calves 2325.00-2675.00 per
pair, few pkgs in thin condition 1750.00-1910.00 per pair; short-solid to broken-
mouth cows with baby to 200 lb calves 1190.00-1400.00 per pair, pkg excellent
condition short-solid mouth cows bred back 1660.00 per pair.
