Boonville-Missouri Valley Commission Company
Cattle Auction Report for 04/30/2013

Receipts: 621 Last Week: 1192 Year Ago: No Sale Compared to last week, a light test of feeders sold 4.00 to 8.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher. Supply was light and demand moderate. Muddy conditions continue to make it difficult to get feeders to auction and have delayed spring planting. Nationwide only 5 percent of the 2013 corn crop is in the ground which is well behind the normal 30 percent planted at this time. The delayed planting as well as more winter weather in the forecast for much the plains states later this week caused most corn contracts to close limit up on Monday. Despite the rise in corn prices buyers seemed to have orders for feeders and were slightly aggressive bidding on the limited supply available, most however were unable to fill many loads. Locally several head of cattle are still rumored to be ready for market as soon as their care takers can manage to get them off the farm and into town. This week's feeder supply was made up 63 percent steers, 30 percent heifers and 7 percent bulls. Near 36 percent of the offering weighted over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls accounted for about 30 percent of the total offering.
