Not enough feeder cattle on hand to test the market with the bulk of the
supply bred cows and pairs. A good crowd was on hand for the Monthly Cow
Special, with local producers proving once again they are ready to restock their
herds even at ever rising prices. Feed prices are low, hay piles and fall
pastures plentiful, and the feeder market at all-time highs, and the time seems
right to rebuild. Feeder cattle were offered in singles and very small pkgs with
a fair percentage of unweaned calves in the mix. Slaughter cows 2.00-3.00 lower
(compared to two weeks ago). Supply moderate and demand good. Cows and bulls
accounted for 69 percent of the total offering.  The feeder supply consisted of
70 percent steers and bulls and 30 percent heifers; 33 percent of all the feeder
cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
