Cattle Auction Report for 12/17/13                 
 
Receipts:  772    Two Weeks Ago:  824    Year Ago:  1183
 
   Compared to the last reported market two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers 
sold steady to 4.00 higher, where comparisons could be made. Slaughter cows 2.00 
to 5.00 higher. Missouri Valley Commission Company held a Special Cow Sale in 
conjunction with their regular weekly feeder sale and a big crowd was on hand 
throughout. A complete dispersal of a local reputation herd was highlighted, 
which included about 80 cow/calf pairs, most of them 4-7 year old, front-pasture 
type cows right in their prime. Supply and demand moderate. Cows and bulls 
account for 61 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply consisted of 52 
percent steers and bulls and 48 percent heifers; 40 percent of all the feeder 
cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
